Artsy or Whimsy?

Yes, cutting corners.
In fact, I cut up construction paper to make squares of about 5".
This enables me to draw small, eye-catching topics, flash cards, or a quickly sketched scenery which can later be proportioned to a bigger size, or left as it is.
Students love the flashcards as to them this is not another boring set of extra vocabulary they have to learn, in their already very busy schedule. They're always surprised to find I love drawing as well, and this is a great ice-breaker!
Very often we end up discussing and drawing the topics on the cards, only to find out time's up!
Vocabulary Cards are a fun and engaging way to learn vocabulary fast.
In Neuro-Linguistic Programming it is taught to use the senses as much as possible.
Therefor, using bright colors to enhance students' comprehension of vocabulary and sentence structure is the best way to go, in my opinion.
Either way, drawing is relaxing and fun for the children, as it is for me!
